I’m Moth, a 28 year-old IT Professional, with 18 years experience. This is my website, and this is what I do: |
From an early age, I enjoyed taking things apart and studying how they work.
The youngest of three children, I learned BASIC Programming at the age of nine, on my older brothers computer – a Sinclair Spectrum +3.
Throughout the late eighties/early nineties, I became interested in MS-DOS and UNIX. A work experience placement at Swansea University taught me how to administrate large networks of mixed-machines, perform maintenance on rack servers, and program databases.
My family bought an Amiga A600 around 1997, followed by a Windows 95 PC in 1999.
I left sixth-form in 2000, and worked as Network technician in West Wales General Hospital in Carmarthenshire, before moving to Cardiff. I have been working almost continuously since 1996 as a PC, Mac, and Linux technician and as a web/graphic designer and freelance programmer.
With a total of more than 20 years experience in these fields, I have a real affinity for machines and how they work, how to quickly diagnose, repair and re-program them. I continually research new technologies as they become available, and am able to extend my knowledge to mobile phones & personal audio/video equipment.
I repair PCs and laptops on a ‘no fix, no fee’ basis, consult with businesses establishing IT network infrastructures, design personal and corporate websites, bespoke graphics and art, and code in BASIC, Java, C# and C++.
Currently, I live in Cardiff, Wales. I speak three languages and am learning a fourth. I’m not at all interested in sport, but my ‘outside world’ hobbies include Reading, Cooking and Music - I’m a rhythm guitar player, and can also play bass, drums & harmonica. When I was younger I had piano lessons.

I’ve just read your ‘About’ page and thought I was reading about my 14 year old son!!
He too loves IT and ‘how things work’, he’s desperate for a Mac as he does lots in film editing in school, and teaches the pupils stuff his IT teacher doesn’t know!! How bad is that? Oh, and not forgetting he hates sport and plays piano, guitar and bassoon!!
Reading about Spectrum and MS-DOS took me back a bit too. I used MS-DOS with specialist braille equipment. Using it now in word and text only format is much easier!!
Anyway, your stuff looks great and I look forward to ‘working’ with you.
Regards, Denise.
Hi Denise, it is possible to install the Mac Operating system on a PC, replacing Windows and essentially giving you the Mac experience on a PC. All Mac software will run as if it was on a Mac.
